The Fidget Diaries
The Full Story
So you already know that Georgie and Sophie brought me home in October 2018. When they found me I had been staying at the RSPCA. I was riddled with parasites and worms and not feeling my best. Georgie and Sophie took me in and after a little while, once I had settled in, I was introduced to who would become my new bestest friend; Dougal! He was huge!! I was so happy I ran around the field so fast leaping around my new friend. I love teasing him by trying to catch his beard in my teeth and jumping on him...generally causing mischief and being a fidget!
After a couple of months Georgie and Sophie took me out into the big wide world, we went to my very first horse show! I had so much fun and even came home with a rosette. I managed to contain my usual giddiness and impressed Georgie and Sophie so much they thought it would be a good idea to see how I would get on meeting other new people. In December 2018 I went out to my first care home visit. It was all very new to me, what with walking down hallways and standing around in the lounge like hoomans do, but I took to it like a duck to water. I could see that I had to be gentle and kind to these people. They so enjoyed meeting me and I saw their faces light up when I walked in, that made me happy.
Georgie and Sophie were so proud and impressed with me that they called Chestnut Tree House, the children's hospice based here in West Sussex. They were happy for me visit them too so off we went! I saw lots of new things and more importantly I made lots of children happy that day. I must have done something right because I have been back there many times, I was even invited to a special event they held where I got to race an Olympic medallist!...I lost but it was the taking part that counted (I was told to say that!).
Most recently I have been featured in the Worthing Herald and I was on the front page of the Littlehampton Gazette which was super exciting! That brought the attention of the BBC and I was invited to make an appearance on their breakfast show with Neil Pringle. It was so much fun to explore a bit of Brighton! Before my debut I went to look around a bit and I got to see the impressive Brighton Pavilion which was very special! I loved my radio interview, it was brilliant to get to go into the studio. I'm told they streamed a live video to Facebook, luckily I'd fixed my hair up to look nice! I couldn't say an awful lot but Georgie and Sophie spoke on my behalf about what I do. I have been lucky to have been invited to many more places and every visit is a joy, the people are so nice and I've done my research and I understand that I can make a lot of people very happy. Animal interaction is so beneficial to people's general wellbeing and their mental health. Every visit I go on fills me with cheer. I can see that I make a positive impact.
If I can bring a smile to even one person's face then I have done my job! If you would like to know more or you'd like me to visit you or someone you know please get in touch!
Thank you for all the support xx
